Alexey Kochetkov is one of the most versatile and intriguing violinists on Berlin's scene today. He is pioneering his way as a five-string violin player and exploring the possibilities of violin-computer symbiosis. His work is summarized in two projects: Ajam Quartet - a transcultural acoustic ensemble that creatively blends the Middle Eastern and European music traditions, and 5 String Theory - a solo project in which Kochetkov expands the boundaries of violin playing through electronic augmentation.
In 2022, Alexey has released two albums with Ajam Quartet, and in January 2023, he premiered a multidisciplinary performance 5 String Theory - the Theory of Everything which summarized his violin and electronics research of the last years. Through exploring uncharted territories, Alexey seeks to continue the legacy of great violin innovators such as A. Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, and N. Paganini.
